Cultural Offer – Our Vision, Our Future

Telford Culture Zone has developed a long term vision for our future as key providers of a rich cultural offer to all young people within Telford & Wrekin.

Our partnership approach is what enables us to achieve our goals and if we are to realise our vision for the future we need the ongoing commitment and support from all our partners.

Our cultural offer can be described a s a set of participatory empowering experiences that enable young people to experience high quality culture:

TCZ is currently exploring options in order to give a coherent cultural offer to schools, ensuring services are joined up and resources are pooled to become more efficient and cost effective.  TCZ is also developing flexible subscription and buy-in options for schools to give them investment opportunities and choices in developing creative curriculums.  Through this, TCZ will gain investment for future working and sustainability.

TCZ’s objective is to sustain and develop a range of exciting arts and cultural opportunities for children and young people within schools, at the heart of which is effective partnership working and joint planning between the cultural and education sectors.

TCZ designs, develops and implements quality arts education programmes that are innovative, distinctive and foster the skills needed for a lifelong involvement with arts and cultural activities.  Sustainable opportunities are created through partnerships and collaborations between arts & cultural organisations/individuals and educational institutions

TCZ continues to leverage funds through various networks and funding streams, working in partnership to strengthen bids and pool resources.  It builds on the partnership network which can ensure services and organisations are working collaboratively to share resources, expertise and skills, ensuring a high quality offer for schools.

By working directly with schools & colleges many agendas and targets can be met such as increasing attendance, reducing NEETs, improving quality of life by giving access to a varied cultural programme in order to increase young people’s skills base. Partnership working strengthens future investment and funding opportunities.

The recent national Evaluation of Find Your Talent – Overview Report by SQW Consulting, March 2011

‘In Telford, partners and providers consulted during the case study thought that the quality of provision was high and the programme had reached those who were furthest away from cultural experience’ [P25]

‘Telford consultees indicated that participation in FYT had raised the expectations of teachers in terms of what children are capable of achieving and the quality of the subsequently cultural activities provided for them.  There had been noticeable changes in teaching: staff had gained skills, had been inspired and were more confident when trying new approaches, and it was thought that their engagement with FYT would have a lasting legacy in their teaching practice.’ [P21]
