Your Station for Creation

Who is Platform?

Adam Shaw, Richard Foot, Hayley Robinson, Jessicah Kendrick, Rebecca Moore, Helen Foot and Eric Heath. We are also indebted to our precursors, Scruff and Jo, who are now moving their energies into other areas.

Where is Platform?

You can find Platform Alteration in the Loft @ the OPO, corner of High St & Milk St, Shrewsbury.

When is Platform?

Platform Alteration is held on the first Thursday of every month.

How do I get involved in Platform?

Platform is all voluntary, so if you want to get your stuff on display you’ve gotta come and do it yourself. It doesn’t matter what you do, we wanna hear about it, we’re open to just about everything. In the past we’ve had painters, sculptors, photographers, puppeteers, fashion shows, live music, djs, dancing, drawing, cartoons, drama, poetry, creative writing, and plenty of fun. We have regular meetings so contact us by phone, email or myspace to find out when & where.

Also if you've got friends who you think we'd like [or who would like us], send 'em on over, the more the merrier!

Facebook? Twitter? MySpace? Of course...

Visual Artists

We want anything and everything. Our main aim is to give you an opportunity to exhibit your work, something that isn't always easy to sort out on your own. Also, we want everyone to have a chance to see how much talent there is locally. Get in touch, we DEFINITELY want to show your work! and that really talented friend you've got? poke them & make them submit, or at least come along to check it out.

Live Music

The live music has become a bit of a regular thing in the past, and we want to carry that on. we like original stuff [can't be compromising our 'artistic integrity' haha], whether it be made with instruments or pedals or computers or old telephones. most of the bands we've had in the past are in our music interests bit, have a look. get in touch with us, we'll have a listen then talk dates!

DJs

Our night is a bit of an excuse to play the weird stuff that you normally wouldn't hear on a night out. we don't really do bangin' and we kinda gave up on DnB, you can get all that stuff at other nights in Shrews. we want DIFFERENT! if you think you've got DIFFERENT, get in touch & we'll see what we can do.

Platform Submission Guidelines

One of the main features of Platform is the loop of visual art projected onto the screen behind the artists, and on a seperate computer screen near to the bar. It's probably the easiest way to get started with Platform, as you just send us the images you want included & we do the rest of the work!

Images/work for the projection loop should be sized for onscreen display, 576px high by 720px wide, resolution is up to you.

If your image is proportioned differently then you should add extra canvas bits onto the edges to make them fit.

To submit please email your images/work to:

platformalteration@hotmail.co.uk or post to

The Hive, 5 Belmont, Shrewsbury, SY1 1TE
'FAO Emma Puente, Platform'.

Don't forget to tell us what name you want your work credited under.

Then just show up on the night & watch the pretty pictures go by. Don't forget to bring your friends!

If you don't quite fit into the above format, just message us & tell us what you're about & how you think you'd fit in, we'll work something out!
