Why have Simply Music in your school?
Following the publication in November 2011 of the government’s national plan for music education The Importance of Music (2011) – Simply Music is our new Key Stage 1 whole class music programme for Telford & Wrekin primary schools, developed and delivered by Telford & Wrekin Music.
These whole class sessions are aimed at Years 1 & 2 and can include mixed year groups. Simply Music helps primary schools deliver against the new Ofsted inspection framework. Under the new Ofsted framework from January 2012, Ofsted will judge how:-
“well the school provides positive experiences for all pupils by promoting the pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development through planned and coherent opportunities in the curriculum and through interactions with teachers and other adults: to respond positively to a range of artistic, sporting and other cultural opportunities, provided by the school including, for example, developing an appreciation of theatre, music and literature.”
Simply Music also helps primary schools delivery against the government’s White Paper The Importance of Teaching (2010) which states that “the coalition government believes that every child should experience a wide variety of high quality cultural experiences.”
Under the government’s national plan for music education, Simply Music helps deliver
against the aim:-
“that every child aged 5-18 has the opportunity to learn to play a musical instrument through whole-class ensemble teaching programmes for ideally a year (but for a minimum of a term) of weekly tuition on the same instrument.”
